Shakespeare's play called Macbeth displays many political figure connections. One very prominent political connection shown through out the play is between Henry VIII's wife, Anne Boleyn and Lady Macbeth. These strong characterized woman show many similar character traits such as their insightful personalities and ambition.
King Henry VIII fell in love with Anne Boleyn while still married to his first wife. Anne Boleyn however was not interested and was engaged to another man at that time. King Henry VIII used his power and broke their engagement and sent Anne Boleyn his love filled letters asking her to be his mistress. Anne Boleyn rejected his letters and wanted to become Queen. King Henry VIII was not allowed divorce in their catholic environment so he ended up changing the entire country's religion to protestant to marry her. Similarly, Lady Macbeth is shown as a greedy character as well. She was also very determined to become queen and was the driving force behind her husband. She drove her husband to kill the King to become King himself so she could acquire a higher status as the Queen. Both of these women show ambitious qualities that drove them to push their husbands for the worst. They knew that their husband or future husband was not capable to take a huge risk on their own since they were too "good". Lady Macbeth clearly even states that during the play after reading the letter Macbeth had sent. "Yet do I fear Thy nature; It is too full o' the milk of human kindness" (Macbeth, 1.5.15-16). This show how she thought of him as too caring of a human being to cause any harm to others and knew that she had to things into her own hands. Likewise, Anne Boleyn took actions into her own hands by NOT replying to his letters and NOT accepting the title of a his main mistress, which she knew would drive him to giving her a higher standard because he was becoming more and more desperate. Furthermore these women ended up impacting not only their other life partners, but shook up the whole country to get what they desired.
